The brief was in depth, the students were excited and the prospects for the future are fantastic.
The project overview read: “Schools and colleges in the enterpriseGY partnership will be given one of the First East regeneration areas to study. Supported by postgraduate students from the University of Greenwich who have studied these areas extensively and produced a range of visual resourses that will be made available, pupils will investigate the regeneration proposals and offer an individual and local perspective.”
Liam, Max and Faisal all took the challenge very seriously and chose to work on ‘Ice House Quay’ which is situated opposite the Town Hall across the river. This site has the potential to be one of the most significant and transformative developments in East Anglia and has the potential for some 1400 new homes together with 14,000 sqm of mixed use commercial development.
The students came up with some very interesting ideas and all 3 boys took those ideas to The University of Greenwich in London, where they spent a very interesting day speaking with the post graduate students about their findings. On the students return, they had a further week to work on a presentation. The presentation was delivered to local councillors, local schools, businesses and Professor Duncan Bernstein and his post graduate students at the Town Hall Assembly Rooms, Great Yarmouth. The students delivered a fantastic presentation and were applauded with great enthusiasm. After their presentation, Simon Loftus, Director (Private Sector), said “The panel was very impressed the students had conducted a survey and they were also very impressed with their research and ideas. These were both ambitious and thought out, and the approach was very do-able.”
The morning finished off with a presentation of awards and certificates and all the schools and colleges were praised for their efforts and achievemens during the course of this project.
In the afternoon some of the students took their research into Market Gates Shopping Centre where they showed their work to the general public and discussed their findings. They also answered any questions that they were asked.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone that made this project possible especially enterpriseGY and congratulation to our 3 students Max, Liam and Faisal for all of their hard work.
