As part of the Big Ideas Conference organised by enterpriseGY, one of the workshops was hosted by the James Paget Hospital and focused on raising the awareness of bringe drinking in the area, focusing on all age groups.
The students where invited to the hospital to a presentation which involved many staff from different departments within the hospital, discussing the various implications of binge drinking and the long term and short term effects this can have. The students were then asked to come back to Oriel and design an advertising campaign which could be used locally in Norfolk to raise the awareness.
4 Oriel students took part and worked very hard researching the implications and effects of binge drinking and they came up with a poster and flyer campaign which could be distributed around schools and colleges, this was then presented to a panel of judges at the Burrage Centre along with presentations from teams from Gt Yarmouth college.
The judges were very impressed with the exceedingly high standards demonstrated by the students and invited them to go back to school, tweak their work and return at the beginning of June to make a further presentation to a second panel.
Well done to Megan Roberts, Chloe Mansi, Chloe Ingram and Jess Storey for all of your hard work.
