The Oriel Safer Schools Partnership

This is a national programme and we are pleased to host the East Norfolk pilot project.

The Partnership is designed to build on the existing high levels of co-operation between Oriel and the Norfolk Constabulary. A Police Officer is based in the college and works closely with us and with the other neighbourhood schools in promoting the aims of the Partnership.

These aims are:

  • To engage young people in a positive way.
  • To challenge unacceptable behaviour in schools and in the community.
  • To help tackle truancy, reduce exclusions and increase attendance.
  • To protect children from harm and abuse.
  • To further improve the safety of the neighbourhood for the benefit of us all.

It is important to understand that this is not a response to problems in the area, rather an attempt to engage youngsters in a positive way and prevent difficulties from arising.

The work of the college based police officer and the community support officers is managed jointly between Oriel and the Norfolk Constabulary.

There is a full working protocol which has been drawn up following national guidelines and agreed by the governing body at Oriel.

We hope that this program benefits everyone in our community and if you require any further information please contact us at the college.
