Creative Arts Logo English Logo
Creative Arts includes Art, Dance and Movement, Drama, French, Music, Photography, Physical Education and Spanish. We have an extremely high standard of delivery as exemplified in the Artsmark Award. Our provision is of the highest quality with students given the opportunity to explore these areas of expression. English at Oriel delivers a wide range of courses aimed at ensuring all students literacy abilities are catered for. Literacy is a key factor in the development of education and the English department ensure that all students receive the skills to achieve their best. English also offers Media Studies and A/S English as optional subjects to further enrich the high quality curriculum.

Our provision of Humanities at Oriel includes History, Geography and R.E. Focusing on an interesting curriculum with rich content Humanities is enjoyed by many students not only within the classroom but in the experiences and insights gained from a range of educational excursions outside of the college. As a core subject and one of our Specialisms, ICT has not only a high profile at Oriel but also maintains an engaging curriculum. We recognise that ICT is an important part of todays world and as such we ensure that all students have the skills to succeed, not only at school but throughout their lives.

Mathematics at Oriel represents an engaging and enjoyable opportunity for everyone. As a leading department in the county, core subject, and one of our Specialist Subjects we see mathematics as an area with plenty to offer. A focus is placed on developing all students numeracy ability to a high standard with opportunities in Statistics, Adult Numeracy qualifications and National challenges. With a new sports hall, excellent facilities and highly committed staff, PE at Oriel offers something for everyone. Not only does PE have an excellent program of study in place but it offers a wide range of extra-curricular activites. These include athletics, cricket, netball, rugby, football, basketball, table tennis and many others with organised competitions against other schools in the area.

Science at Oriel engages pupils through experimentation, discussion and demonstration. Experts in the field of science are often used to supplement the laboratory learning with dynamic and energetic activities. At Oriel we offer all learners access to an education that meets their indivdual needs. This includes an extensive diet of Gifted and Talented programs, learning support and opportunies to ensure we provide an educational experience that encourages all learners to achieve their best.
Technology Logo Work Related Learning Logo
Technology at Oriel covers Catering, Child Care, Electronics, Engineering, Graphics, Resistant Materials, Textiles and Food Technology. We have excellent facilities offering students the opportunity to experience technology with clear guidance from a highly trained team. Work Related Learning is a hands-on curriculum delivering practical education leading to vocational qualifications. Courses include the Prince’s Trust, Animal Care and the Sports Leader Award. These courses have strong links within our community.
